Meet our Board of Directors

President – Ben Herman
He is a retired planning consultant with Clarion Associates.

He earned a degree in Environmental Studies and Planning in 1978. With his career at Clarion he was highly successful in growth management, as a sustainability consultant to local governments and other organizations across the US and overseas. He is from the front range and has been a resident of Grand Junction, CO since 2015. He is passionate about providing services to our senior population in Mesa County, dedicating his time to being one of our handyman project volunteers while also driving for Meals on Wheels for the past 8 years.

 

He has extensive board knowledge having been involved in numerous non-profit organizations, including, Neighbor to Neighbor and American Planning Association of Colorado, to name a few.

He has been a Board Member with Mesa County RSVP since 2021, serving on the finance committee, IT Committee, and now the Executive Committee.

 

One thing you may be surprised to know about Ben is he plays bass guitar (upright and electric) and performs in a local band called The Dubious Brothers!

We are grateful to have him as our president. 

Dave Morlan – Vice President

Dave Morlan is passionate about RSVP. He has several different volunteer positions including Bingo Customer Relations, Handyman Project Specialist, and Sheriff’s Department Advocate.  

He is dedicated to our community, and we are sincerely grateful for him. 

John Jordy, (J.J.) – Board Member

J.J. has been an integral part of our board of directors for over a year now. Previously, he was our Handyman Program Coordinator! 

He retired after 30+ years as a civil engineer. He worked for various Federal State County, and Municipalities in California, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico. 

He has continuously helped us thrive. We are very thankful to have him.

Treasurer – Megan Hall 

Megan serves as our treasurer. She is retired with a mass of valuable experience as former co-owner of California Closets in Las Vegas, NV. 

 

She is a successful entrepreneur, growing a business from $1 million in annual revenue to $9 million in 17 years. She has received several awards for customer satisfaction & market penetration. She has served her community as facilitator for a group of business owners with revenue over $1 million and has given several in-kind donations to “Dress For Success”.

This is her first non-profit board position; she joined us in April 2023 and has been very happy.

 

We are very grateful for her hours of dedication helping with our Executive & Finance committee.

Kelly Roy – Secretary

Kelly Roy is excited to join the board as a new member, motivated by a strong desire to give back to the community she deeply values. With a history of community involvement and professional collaboration, Kelly brings both passion and experience to her role.

Her past service includes meaningful contributions to several local and regional organizations, such as the UMC Finance Committee, the Western Rockies Walk to Emmaus Advisory Board, the Delta County Senior Resource Committee, and the Region 10 Advisory Board. These roles have allowed her to engage with a wide variety of community needs, helping her develop a strong understanding of nonprofit governance, resource planning, and collaborative leadership.

Professionally, Kelly has built trusted referral relationships and is recognized for her strengths in budget development and marketing. She has a keen eye for aligning financial planning with mission-driven goals, and her strategic mindset helps ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively. Her marketing background adds value to the board’s outreach and communications efforts, helping to build awareness and engagement within the community.

Kelly’s decision to join the board reflects her commitment to being part of something bigger than herself—supporting an organization that helps connect individuals with meaningful ways to contribute and make a difference.

Donna Smith – Board Member
Please welcome our newest board member Donna Smith! 

 

She is a Retired Human Resources professional (Non-profits, For Profit, Public Sector, and Consultant)

In the Grand Valley she provided HR for the Marillac Clinic, HopeWest, and the City of Grand Junction. She was a Board member of Karis- A safe place for Kids.

She also worked for an Engineering Consulting Firm, Human Resources and Corporate Security for DOE & DoD, 1978-2000; Marillac Clinic, HR and Volunteer Manager 2000- 2005; HopeWest, Human Resources 2005-2007, City of Grand Junction, Human Resources Analyst, 2007-2015; Human Resources Consultant, 2015-2018. 

 

She has her BS in Organizational Management/Human Resources and sat on 3 boards as a Professional in Human Resources.

We appreciate her as our newest addition!

Claudine Paulsen – Board Member

Claudine is a passionate new addition to the board, bringing a fresh perspective and a strong belief in the power of community engagement. She is especially inspired by the organization’s mission to connect individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities, helping them discover where their time and talents can make the greatest impact.

“I feel I can offer guidance and insight where appropriate using my skills,” Claudine shares. “I’ve worked in a variety of industries and hope to bring that experience to support the mission of this organization.”

Professionally, Claudine serves as a Wealth Banker for U.S. Bank, covering the Western Slope of Colorado and supporting branches from Fruita to Telluride. In this role, she advises clients on complex financial matters and wealth strategies, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial planning and client service.

Beyond her banking expertise, Claudine brings a diverse background that includes experience in media, marketing, grant writing, and grant execution. Her multifaceted skill set allows her to contribute strategically across several areas of board work—from communications and outreach to financial planning and resource development.

Claudine is driven by a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. She sees great value in helping people explore different ways to get involved in their communities and believes that the results of these volunteer connections are key to creating lasting, positive change.
